Beavers on CBeebies Channel on 27th September
Earlier this year we were approached by the makers of “Something Special”, an award winning BBC Children’s programme shown on the CBeebies Channel, which features young people with visible learning difficulties showing them integrating within society in a positive way.
The BBC wanted our help to identify and film a Beaver Scout who was enjoying Scouting in a mainstream Beaver Scout Colony. A seven year old girl, Emily from the 1st Hook Scout Group in Royal Kingston District was selected and a full day’s filming duly took place at Walton Firs Scout Campsite & Activity Centre last April.
We have been informed by the production team that the first transmission date is set for next Tuesday, 27th September for 0945 hrs and 1345 hrs on the CBeebies Channel.
We are aware that some of the filming is already being shown on a CBeebies trailer and that the production team have assured us that the programme shows Scouting being an inclusive organisation in a positive way.
We have received permission from the BBC to allow this story to go up on to the website as a pointer for our members.
