Dear Colleagues

Following The Scout Association being in the news this week regarding historical compensation claims for safeguarding cases, we are conscious that some parents may ask you questions direct about the story and our safeguarding procedures. We want to do all we can to support you in these situations.

Reassuring any parent that has a concern around their child in Scouting following this week’s news is of upmost importance to us all.

A letter tailored for parents can be downloaded below if you would like to use this in response to an enquiry or if you feel you would like to proactively share with all your parents.

You can download and print the letter to circulate, or email the link to parents.

Download the parent letter here.

We want to ensure that parents have access to our response to the media reports and are reminded of the stringent procedures we have in place to take the best care of their children.

Thank you for all the support and reassurance you can provide to this important group of people. If you need any additional help on handling any queries please do contact safeguarding@scouts.org.uk

Yours,
