ACC News
Welcome to the GLSW ACC Beavers page.
My name is Karl Bromley and I support the 5 Districts and their ADC's.
27th Sept 2011 - Out and About with the ACC Beaver Scouts in GLSW…….
So still on a high celebrating our 25th Birthday at CuBeaver Jambo, I have been visiting each Districts both at meetings and events. Several districts have been having sleepovers during the Summer months some as colonies and other organised by teams. This is a great way to meet new friends and spend, sometimes their first night away from home.
The re-arranged Sports Day for Wimbledon saw much better weather and I got to spend some time with parents and leaders during the event. About 60 beavers attended and it was good to see them all stretching with the ADC before starting their 10 bases. Sack Races, Flower Pot races, Sponge Javelin and the good old Ski Race allowed them to take part individually and in teams.
Whisking away to Southwood, I joined the older Beavers from Royal Kingston exploring the undergrowth. Unfortunately, they had forgotten to bring cups for drinks, but being prepared, Lyn showed them all how to make a cup out of a square piece of paper and they had a drink! Their DC then turned up to talk about his exploring and judge the shelters they had made using items found in the undergrowth, before they were all presented with a certificate and their Explore badge.
It doesn’t stop there as between now and the end of the year, the weekends are full with more events and 2012 will start with a bang too. All I can say is THANK YOU to all the Beaver Leaders in the county and keep up the great work.
