Teams to comprise of 4–6 Scouts of ANY age. Limited spaces, so apply early to avoid disappointment! Further information will be sent out to teams who reply.
It's simple to enter a team or volunteer your help (volunteers are needed for incident manning)... Just return the reply slip by post & enclose a cheque by Saturday 19th February 2010.
...team booking sheet
Please download the night exercise details, complete a team booking sheet and send it by post before Saturday 19th February 2010. A booking confirmation will be sent within seven days of receipt of payment. Starting times and final information will then be sent first class post on Saturday 1st March 2010.
Entry is limited to TWO teams per troop – if you would like more than two teams please indicate this with a covering note; if we have availability we will contact you after the closing date.
...parental consent form
Every Scout must check into the hall on arrival to the site and present a completed parental consent form (included with the night exercise details). Failing to do so will result in that Scout being unable to take part in the event.

The age range of Scout Teams is as defined in POR.
...booking in
Please report to the Barn as directed from the main campsite car park and with a Parental Consent form completed for each Scout. Each team will be allocated a different start time and you must be punctual to avoid disappointment. All teams need to ensure they leave enough time to pitch their tents before starting to hike. An emergency contact number during the hike will be handed out to teams before they start.
...equipment needed
Each Scout should carry:
- A small rucksack
- A torch – with spare batteries
- Waterproofs
- A spare jumper
- Drinks/snacks
- Reflective clothing – MUST BE WORN ON THE OUTERMOST LAYER
Each Team should carry:
- At least ONE Compass
- Notebook and Pencil
- A First Aid kit
- A whistle
- Change for Emergency calls
THERE WILL BE A KIT INSPECTION AT THE START OF THE HIKE AND YOU MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO HIKE IF YOUR KIT IS DEEMED BY THE ORGANISERS TO BE INADEQUATE.
...team size
It is essential that teams comprise of between 4–6 Scouts. TEAMS WITH LESS THAN 4 SCOUTS OR MORE THAN 6 SCOUTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WALK.
...camping

If you wish to stay overnight you will require your own camping equipment for the Saturday night, and anything you require for breakfast. Tents must be pitched before you start the Night Exercise.
...dress
Group scarves should be worn at all times for identification. Warm clothing and suitable footwear (boots if you have them) should also be worn.
...food & drink
A hot drink and snacks will be provided at the end of the hike. Please note that breakfast is not provided.
...presentations
The results will be announced and the County Trophy and Certificates will be awarded at 0930hrs on Sunday morning.
