GLSW Award Expedition Opportunity

The County is mounting an ‘on foot’ expedition for older Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members wishing to undertake an unaccompanied ‘practice’ or ‘qualifying’ expedition over four days (three nights camping) for the Queen’s Scout or Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. The minimum age is 16 and the maximum age is 25. Expedition training should have been completed prior to an unaccompanied ‘practice’ expedition.
Details are as follows:
- Dates
- 23rd–29th August 2010 inclusive
- Location
- Lake District, Cumbria
- Base
- Ashness Hut, near Keswick
- Transport
- Car/minibus
- Cost
- £100, which includes base accommodation, food while not on the expedition itself, all transport, meal out at finish, and contribution towards use of box trailer. The fee does not cover hike food and campsites.
- Training
- This will need to be completed prior to the expedition
- Planning meeting
- Sunday 16th May 2010 at 2:00pm (venue to be advised)
- Deposit
- A non-returnable deposit of £30 is required with the balance due before the expedition. Cheques should be made payable to GLSW Scout Council, and sent to Chris Dean 13 East Hill Road, Oxted, Surrey, RH8 9HZ.
- Equipment
- The County has a pool of expedition equipment available to borrow
