Duke of Edinburgh’s Award / Queen’s Scout Award
50-mile Hike Expedition Opportunity

The County is mounting an ‘on foot’ expedition for older Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members wishing to undertake an unaccompanied ‘practice’ or ‘qualifying’ expedition over four days (three nights camping) for the Queen’s Scout or Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. The minimum age is 16 but expedition training should have been completed prior to an unaccompanied ‘practice’ expedition. The maximum age is 25.

Dates
24th–30th August 2008 inclusive.
Location
Dartmoor – the base will be at Dewerstone near Yelverton (north of Plymouth)
Cost
£95 (which includes base accommodation, food while at the base, and transport to and from Dewerstone). The cost of hike food and campsites is additional.

A route planning meeting for all participants will be held in South Croydon on Sunday 4th May, which is the closing date for applications. A deposit of £30 will be required at this meeting (the balance of £65 will be due on 30th June 2008).
