Here are some photos from the Three Peaks Challenge in the Yorkshire Dales last weekend (Saturday 15th July 2006).

There were 13 Scout Network members (aged 18 and over). In the group of eight are (not in order!) Karen Wilson, Karen Wood, Ed Wilson, Samuel Schneider, Jerry Thompson, Sean Weston, Shelley Dyer and Chris Dean (Network Commissioner). Most of these are from Croydon.

The route is a circuit of 25 miles starting and finishing at Horton in Ribblesdale. The target is to complete the circuit inside 12 hours. The amount of climbing is almost 6,000 feet overall. The three summits in order are Pen y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough - all three are over 2,300 feet above sea level.

The group finished in 13¼ hours, which is a good effort bearing in mind the searing heat last weekend. Temperatures reached 82°F.

The challenge is on to improve on this time.
