1st Perthshire (Pitlochry) Scout Hall, Pitlochry
Accommodation for approximately 25 people is indoors in this building of modern design and construction. There are small grass areas to two sides of the hall. The main hall measures 8x12 metres or so and there is access to a floored loft space by means of a removable ladder. The kitchen is equipped with two domestic cookers, a fridge, cupboard space, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, an urn, electric kettle and microwave. Toilets and hot and cold water are available.
Showers may be available at a cost at the local Atholl leisure centre, which has a games hall and other facilities for hire. The nearest public swimming pool is in Aberfeldy. Pitlochry itself is famous as a tourist centre and among its attractions are the Festival Theatre, salmon ladder and exhibition, two whisky distilleries and microbrewery.
Located in the southern Grampians there is plenty of good hill walking within an hour’s drive. The rivers Tay and Tummel are suitable for canoeing, rafting also being available on the Tay. There is a watersport centre 40 minutes drive away at Kenmore. Coach and rail services run from Pitlochry to Inverness, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
