GLSW Award Expedition Opportunity

We are arranging an Expedition Training Course for those wishing to undertake their Queen’s Scout and Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award expedition on foot during 2009.

The course will be held in the Peak District of Derbyshire during October half-term 2008, from October 28th until November 2nd inclusive.

We shall be based at Bell’s Box on North Lees Farm, near Hathersage. Instruction in practical expedition skills will be given locally and in the Dark Peak, on Kinder Scout and Bleaklow Hill.

The minimum age for participants is 16, and you will need a Gold record book if you wish the training to qualify under Duke of Edinburgh’s Award requirements.

The cost of the course is £65 inclusive of transport, accommodation, food and materials. A deposit of £25 should be paid on application with the balance paid by 30th September 2008.

The course is limited to ten, and applicants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
